St George's Day in England

National Day

Oh beautiful dawn, unfurl the day
Time slow down your relentless pace
So we may savour each moment's grace
In the company of loved ones
Enter ye warriors of ages past
Gather round this merry fire
And tell us how you saved this land
And died for our freedoms
Let the west wind blow the august flags
And ward off those that seek to harm
Our traditions, customs, kith and kin
And all that we hold dear
Let the bells ring out, the cannon pound
Marching bands pass through the street
May sadness part and strangers meet
In peace for once a year.
